Media Freedom Network (MFN) Launch
10 December 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
New Naratif believes that independent media is vital to building Southeast Asian (SEA) democracy. After conducting interviews, FGDs, and exploratory surveys with 320+ independent media workers over two series of Media Freedom in Southeast Asia Project publications, we gather that achieving media freedom and independence requires the collective effort of various communities in the region. We are strongest when we work together.
The pursuit of media freedom and independence should start at the individual level, where media workers are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the hostile media space. As such, we call for a more holistic and intersectional approach to bring about positive changes for media workers and, by extension, every element of our societies.
Join us as we launch the Media Freedom Network (MFN), a web for the media freedom movement in SEA, on 10 December at 10.00a.m. MYT, to discuss Media Freedom Project’s newest report and have a roundtable discussion on the direction of MFN in 2023.
This event is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
