Under the blanket of darkness, 42-year-old Takadi treads the wet path through a rice field with the aid of a torch. His eyes remain vigilant for any movement as he searches for snake nests or burrows. Sometimes he finds them in swamps or estuaries; sometimes he looks for them in trees.
