Apabila kulit novel pertama nukilan Hanna Alkaf diumumkan pada Julai tahun lalu, komuniti pembaca Malaysia menyambut berita itu dengan riang dan teruja. Bukan sahaja kerana khabar bahawa karya penulis Malaysia diterbitkan di pentas dunia, tetapi juga sebagai respons kepada kulit novel itu sendiri. Berlatarbelakangkan bara api dan kepulan asap, sepasang remaja menaiki motosikal. Kepada warga Malaysia, dua imej paling menyerlah: remaja perempuan dalam imej itu memakai pinafore pakaian seragam sekolah menengah, dan motosikal yang ditunggang mereka tidak lain dan tidak bukan adalah jenis kap chai.

Buat Hanna, kulit bukunya turut melambangkan jenis buku yang dia ingin tulis, iaitu “kisah Malaysia, tanpa segan silu.” Boleh dikatakan tidak banyak buku yang tekad mengetengahkan Malaysia seperti novel genre dewasa muda (YA) karya Hanna, The Weight Of Our Sky.
