The haze, generated by huge forest fires in Indonesia, affects Southeast Asian countries every year, triggering health concerns and disrupting lives and livelihoods. It’s a long-standing problem caused by slash-and-burn practices. Although ASEAN governments have talked about and signed agreements on tackling the issue, there is much more that needs to be done.

In collaboration with Malaysian environmental groups CERAH, KAMY, and NAFAS, New Naratif will be hosting a Citizens’ Forum on the transboundary haze on 10 November 2019 from 2:30pm to 5:30pm at the KL Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall. We’ll be talking about long-term strategies to combat the haze, and raising funds for WALHI, an Indonesian NGO that engages in anti-haze advocacy.
